The Lord first sent us to Uganda in May, 2005. We traveled from Israel through Ethiopia to Entebbe, Uganda. Duane spoke at an intercessor's conference and at Christian Intercessor's Church, led by Pastor Steven Umaru Bugwegwe, our host, in Lugazi, 40 kilometers east of Kampala.
The people were eager to receive blessings from Jerusalem and the US. We left rich deposits from the Lord and established strong relationships with pastors and church members alike. We returned to Israel and the US with a powerful anointing and testimony to share with fellow ministers, churches and friends.
In June 2005, we arrived in Rochester, New York, Ruth's hometown, to begin relating our experiences in Uganda with American audiences. We have been eagerly received in a wide array of church meetings and activities, and were interviewed on radio. We then began a motor trip
from Rochester to California, via Missouri, Colorado and Arizona. Along the way we shared our testimony and the greetings of Ugandan pastors and church leaders.
One of our first goals is to help Pastor Steve purchase a sound system and generator to hold open-air preaching crusades in and around Lugazi. We were also requested to produce sermon tapes , sermon outlines and miscellaneous teaching materials. In addition, we ourselves identified numerous opportunities for ministry by
Christians with practical skills: building simple plumbing systems to run rain water from collectors into houses; installing or upgrading electrical systems in homes; developing construction techniques for building inexpensive but durable housing, just to name a few.
The people of Uganda are hungry for the Lord and the teachings of the Gospel. They love Israel and have a great burden to pray for Jerusalem, America, and President George Bush. They have seen tremendous victories during the last few years, mainly over witchcraft, and are now asking the Lord to bless their land and its produce as well as industry, and expecting Him to turn the tide of Islam as they diligently pray. We would appreciate your prayers and support as the Lord leads you to partner with us in our journeys with Him. We expect Him to use our Uganda trip as a foundation for relationships on the entire continent of Africa, and look forward to His leading, to go to the nations. We will provide schedule updates, and, of course, lots of pictures of the places the Lord takes us to, as well as the mighty works He will do there.
Duane returned to Uganda in June of 2006 continuing our ministry to the people of Lugazi. Plans for our return are on temporary hold due to Duane's health.
